At High Point Innovations (HPI), interviews aren’t just about resumes, they’re about people. We’re looking for driven individuals who want more than just a job. Whether you're stepping into your first interview or looking to grow into leadership, preparation is key and standing out starts before you even walk in.

That’s why we’re sharing one of our 8 Step Business Models —the same mindset we use at our events, applied directly to your interview day. Let this guide set you apart.

1. Have a Great Attitude

At HPI, your attitude is your brand. We look for people who are positive, passionate, and purposeful. Come in ready to show who you are, not just what’s on your resume. We’re building a team of leaders who lead by example, and it all starts with the energy you bring in the room.

Pro tip: Show up with the best smile you got.

2. Be on Time

15 minutes early is on time—on time is late. Punctuality speaks volumes about your professionalism and respect for the opportunity. Arriving early gives you space to get grounded, take a deep breath, and prepare to lead.

3. Be Prepared

Show us you’re serious by bringing:

  • Business professional attire – leadership starts with presentation.

  • An extra copy of your resume – not just for us, but for you to reference with confidence.

  • A notebook and pen – leaders are learners, and note-taking shows intention.

Pro tip: Show up like you already have the job, and you’ll stand out from those who just came to “see what it’s about.”

4. Maximize Your Time

Don’t just “do an interview” , go and own the conversation. Use this time to get something out of us too. Ask meaningful questions. Share your story with intention. Help us understand what drives you, and let us see the spark that could make you a future leader here.

5. Know Your Territory

Do your homework before your interview. High Point Innovations partners with nonprofit organizations to create real-world impact through face-to-face outreach. Knowing what we do, and why we do it, shows initiative and purpose.

But it’s not just about the mission. We’re also looking for people who want to move up, grow into leadership, and learn how to run something of their own someday. The good news? We provide the training. All we need from you is the drive.

🔑 We don’t expect you to know everything on day one—but we do expect you to be hungry to learn and ready to lead.

6. Maintain Attitude

Throughout your interview, and life, things don’t always go as planned. We pay attention to how you handle pressure, missteps, or curveballs. Composure, curiosity, and coachability go a long way. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about staying present and positive.

7. Know Your Why and What You're Doing

We want to know why you’re here. Talk about what motivates you. Share what leadership means to you. Tell us what you’re working toward and why you’re seeking growth. At HPI, we value people with purpose, and we’re here to help you sharpen it.

💡 We’re actively looking for future leaders—people who either have leadership experience or are hungry to grow into it. Let us know how that fits into your goals.

8. Take Control

This is your interview, treat it like a leadership opportunity. Ask questions that challenge us. Engage like you’re already on the team. Some of our favorite questions to hear include:

  • “What do successful leaders here have in common?”

  • “What does your leadership development path look like?”

  • “How do team members earn new roles or responsibilities?”

These questions reflect curiosity, confidence, and the mindset of someone ready to level up.

(Secret Step 9): Have Fun

Yes—we said fun. We work hard, we move fast, and we laugh a lot. We’re not looking for robots—we’re building a team of good humans who care, hustle, and create meaningful success.

Final Thoughts

We’re new to Tulsa and ready to grow. Everyone on our team started from the ground up: with mentorship, training, and a drive to lead. Now, they’re mentoring the next wave of leaders and you could be one of them.

Show up prepared. Bring your passion. Ask the bold questions. And let’s build something incredible together.

Bonus Insight: These Tips Go Beyond HPI

Whether you're interviewing with us at High Point Innovations or pursuing opportunities elsewhere, these steps are powerful tools for any job seeker. Dressing to lead, coming prepared, showing genuine interest, and asking strong questions—these habits set you apart in any industry.

An interview is more than a formality, it’s your chance to show who you are and where you’re going. So bring your best, lead with purpose, and take control of your future.
